How the LI Volunteer Hall of Fame Works

The Nomination & Induction Process
The Long Island Volunteer Hall of Fame operates through a community-driven nomination process. Anyone can nominate a deserving volunteer, and our selection committee reviews all nominations to choose each year's inductees. While in-person events were held in prior years, we are moving to a virtual platform. Stay tuned for details!
Submit a Nomination
Anyone can nominate a Long Island volunteer by completing our nomination form. Nominations should describe the volunteer's contributions, the organizations they founded or supported, and the impact they have had on the community.
Review by Committee
Our selection committee reviews all nominations carefully. We look for volunteers who have made a significant, lasting impact on Long Island — whether by founding a nonprofit, leading a charitable cause, or giving decades of dedicated service.
Selection of Inductees
Each year, the committee selects a group of inductees from the nominations received. Inductees are chosen based on the depth and breadth of their volunteer contributions across our 12 service categories.
Induction Ceremony
Selected inductees are honored at our annual induction ceremony. Family, friends, colleagues, and community members gather to celebrate these extraordinary individuals and their lasting contributions to Long Island.
Eligibility
To be eligible for induction, a nominee must be a Long Island resident or have made their primary volunteer contributions to Long Island communities. Nominees may be recognized for founding a nonprofit organization, for lifetime achievement in volunteerism, or for extraordinary service in one of our 12 categories.
